It was fantastic!
It was a 90s flashback for sure. It is nearly the end for ER so time to wrap it all up. Clooney left in 1999 and when they killed off Anthony Edwards's character, Dr. Mark Green in 2002, I left as well. I used to love ER - like most of America - but when the entire original cast was whittled away over the years people began to forget about this show.
Until March 12, 2009.
Dr. Carter(Wyle) needs a kidney transplant and is standing by at Northwestern waiting for his organ. And in walks his mentor, Dr. Benton. It was a perfect reunion. Benton was the one there when Carter needed someone the most. Just like he was for so many years at County General. Meanwhile in Seattle, we see two current cast members waiting for a heart for one of their patients when who should walk in to greet the doctor and nurse from County? Carol Hathaway(Marguiles)! And then the attending physician strolls in... Dr. Doug Ross! CLOONEY! I actually squealed a little at the sight of him next to Carol once again. The storyline plays out and the doctor and nurse return to Chicago with their heart but also a kidney for Carter. All thanks to Carol and Doug convincing a braindead patient's grandmother to donate his organs.
Back in Chicago, Carter is going in for his transplant and Benton observes. Something goes awry and Benton saves the day. So Doug, Carol, and Peter saved the life of Carter! It was perfect.
Well done ER!
