That is Animal Collective in a nutshell. Doing so much at once, such filled with cutting edge - yet most don't get it. I really enjoy them but really have yet to meet anyone else in my daily life who does.
My favorite song of AC's - Water Curses - is a perfect example of all things that Animal Collective does right but also makes so many turn away. They are a complete acquired taste... and trust me it took me LOTS of listens to get them.
